10 Pros and Cons of Selling on Lemon Squeezy

This blog post is about a Website called Lemon Squeezy where you can sell digital products. You can type lemonsqueezy.com in google and any search engine to get to this shop builder. Its name is inspired by the phrase "easy peasy, lemon squeezy", because the team that made Lemon Squeezy want it to help people selling digital products be easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Pros:

  1. You can create discount codes/coupons
  2. You can do email marketing. It integrates with Mailchimp and Convertkit. I think you need your store to be activated and use Zapier for other email marketing software to work with Lemon Squeezy.
  3. You can use it to do Affiliate Marketing for your products.
  4. Tax Inclusive Pricing: the price you set on your products does include the taxes.
  5. You can sell subscriptions, so you can sell memberships.
  6. You can add a custom domain to Lemon Squeezy.
  7. It can connect with Zapier.
  8. Lemon Squeezy is a Merchant of Record, which means they handle digital sales taxes and compliance for you.
  9. Customer Portal: this is a place where your customers can see and manage everything about their purchases from your store.
  10. It has a pay-what-you-want price setting. This allows your customers to choose how much they want to spend on your products. You can set a minimum price so customers have to pay a minimum amount to get your product and can choose to pay more than the minimum price. You can also set a suggested price which suggests a price you want your customers/prospects (people that haven't bought something from you) buy it at.

Cons:

  1. Can't make blog posts
  2. can't make other custom pages
  3. can't host a summit, you can use it to sell tickets for people to access the summit
  4. can't host a free [collaboration] Bundle Giveaways

You can have a product on Lemon Squeezy featured on a free Bundle Giveaway, but you can't use it to host [collaboration] Bundle Giveaways. A [collaboration] Bundle Giveaways is a bundle of products from multiple businesses. [Collaboration] Bundle Giveaways are actually called Bundle Giveaways and Free bundles by most business owners. I call them [Collaboration] Bundle Giveaways to clarify that they are different from a regular free bundles that people give.

Some of the products I know some people want to sell are on Lemon Squeezy's Prohibited List.

Here is a list of products and services I know some people want to sell, but you can't sell on Lemon Squeezy. If you attempt to sell prohibited products, you risk getting your store placed in review or suspended without notice.

6. You can't sell PLR Private Label Rights (PLR) products or Master Resell Products (MRR) products. This includes any product which you’ve obtained a license to sell but do not hold the original IP rights.

7. You can't sell services of any kind (including marketing, design, web development, consulting or other related services). This includes regulated services like real estate and legal services.

8. You can't sell physical products

This potentially means you probably can't do dropshipping and Print on Demand (POD) since they involve selling physical products. They don't directly say you can't sell those on their whole Prohibited list, but it is likely that you can't do those.

Not being able to dropship is Con number 9 and not being able to do Print on Demand is Con number 10.

This isn't a full list of the products you can't sell on Lemon Squeezy but those are the most important I wanted to tell you. Click this -> for the whole Prohibited list on Lemon Squeezy.

In conclusion, Lemon Squeezy is best for people only selling digital products or software. If you aren't selling digital products, Lemon Squeezy won't work for you.
