Fowey Parish Church Archway
Fowey’s parish church is formally known as the Church of St Fimbarrus. Part of the magnificent ancient architecture in central Fowey, this Grade I listed building was built in the early 1300’s.
I captured this view of the archway outside in the churchyard during Autumn. I liked the contrast of the green lichen clinging to the old stone, set against the intruding golden leaves. The viewer’s eye is drawn to the escape down the front path under the arch.
I cropped this to make the arch completely central and have given a slight vignette to focus attention towards the centre. I had to ramp up the ISO in this one given the low light in this sheltered area, so this image isn’t available in ‘oversized’; but ‘large’ is more than plenty for most!
You might also like my views looking up at the Fowey Church tower, or as part of the backdrop looking down the very charming walkway off Church Avenue.
