This is an autumnal view across the river from Fowey to Bodinnick. Specifically, I’ve zoomed into the most stunning house on the riverside, called ‘Ferryside’.

I’ve filled more of this image with the dappling of the river and Bodennick itself, but kept the intriguing curve of the harbour walls and traditional Cornish buildings on the Fowey side. The centre of attention is a stunning, four-storey dwelling with glass viewing balconies standing over the river. I can’t imagine how awesome it would be to live there and enjoy those views in all seasons!

I loved how the incredibly characterful, seemingly Dutch-style, Cornish house is set among the trees. The blues of the fascia and window shutters contrast fantastically with the autumnal oranges surrounding it. All is then accentuated in the river reflections, with the ripples occasionally interrupted by a well-placed orange buoy. The detail of the house is so crisp, where you can clearly read the beautifully-written ‘Ferryside’ sign above the door and even see objects in the windows.

This house was lived in by Daphne Du Maurier, a famous local author whose chilling titles include The Birds and The Jamaica Inn. It is believed to still be owned by the family today and stands proudly and well-kept over the River Fowey.

The image previews give both the overall image, then examples of zoomed-in detail.
