TME Performance Fitness Years 10–11 | Ages 14–16 | KS4
TME Performance Fitness Training Programme is a distinctive, evidence-informed Scheme of Learning for Years 10–11 Core PE. It offers a flexible route of between seven and twelve lessons, allowing schools to adapt the programme to their curriculum time while retaining baseline testing, programme design, two FITT adjustment points and final retesting.
Each pupil selects one primary target: strength, muscular endurance or cardiovascular endurance. Strength testing uses supervised bench press and squat or leg-press protocols, with an estimated repetition maximum used when direct testing is unsuitable. Muscular-endurance testing includes one-minute press-up, sit-up and burpee tests. Cardiovascular testing uses a 12-minute run and a 12-minute rowing test.
Pupils use their evidence to design a balanced six-exercise programme. They learn to apply percentage repetition maximums, repetitions, sets, recovery, percentage maximum heart rate, RPE and the FITT principles. Supervised training lessons allow pupils to refine technique, record performance and progressively take greater responsibility. Two formal adjustment lessons require pupils to review repeated evidence and justify whether frequency, intensity, time or type should be maintained, increased or reduced. The final lesson repeats the original protocol and evaluates absolute and percentage change.
The 28-page resource includes:
- Two curriculum, learning and assessment pages
- Twelve detailed one-page lesson plans
- Twelve matching lesson infographics
- A flexible delivery map for seven to twelve weeks
- Starting prescription guidance for all three pathways
- Testing, supervision and safeguarding requirements
- An evidence and professional-sources page
Every lesson contains Head–Heart–Hands outcomes, timed learning phases, detailed organisation, technique cues, equipment controls, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL adaptations, AfL evidence, non-performing roles and extensive Plan–Monitor–Reflect oracy prompts.
The programme prioritises personal evidence, safe participation and informed decision-making. It avoids appearance-based targets, public comparison and unsupported claims, helping pupils develop knowledge and habits that can transfer into healthy, active lives.
