+++Two of the bags in this bundle, (the Albany Project Bag and the Maryland Classic Retro Knitting Bag) are measure and cut patterns which means that you don’t have any templates to print off and match up- Yay! You need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat and you can cut the pattern pieces straight from the fabric. This is easier than it sounds because the pieces are all simple squares and rectangles.

When you buy this pattern, you have my permission to make this bag to sell- no mass production allowed of course but a few to sell at craft fairs or online, that sort of thing is fine. All I ask is that you credit me as the designer. I wish you all the success in the world with sales!

All measurements are in INCHES.

The first ever Folk Art Factory Big Value Pattern Bundle! I am excited to offer a triple pattern bundle containing three really useful project bags - the Maine-on-the-go Project Bag, The Albany Project Tote and the Maryland Classic Retro Knitting Bag. They make great gifts and they are not difficult to make - mostly in the confident beginner to intermediate range. To help you along, I have written some companion blog posts (the links are in the patterns) which deal with zipper box pockets.

And here are the individual details-
The Albany (that cute mustard yellow one)

This tote is not big but it is mighty! I designed it with knitting projects in mind but it is perfect as an every day bag or for carrying any sort of craft with you wherever you need to go.

Best of all, there are no templates needed - it is a cut and measure pattern and that means that you only need your rotary cutter, mat, a good ruler and the PDF pattern. No need for printing and sizing.

The Albany Tote features
-strong webbing straps
-large front slip pocket
-inner zipper box pocket
-2 inner slip pockets with sections for your craft materials or just pens and a phone.

Dimensions: 13" long x 9 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" deep

Rating: confident beginner to intermediate - no really nasty surprises here but some knowledge is assumed.

So what will you need to make this tote?
Fabric:
½ yard canvas
½ yard lining fabric to match or coordinate

Interfacing:
¾ yard style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or by Annie's Soft & Stable
Fat eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline), alternatively Pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
1 yd. cotton piping cord for the handles. This just needs to be thick enough to fit into the webbing and leave a bit extra room on the webbing for stitching. Its main purpose is to fill out the part of the handle which is folded and stitched so the size is not critical. Have a rummage in your stash and see what you can use.
8 x rivets
Rivet setting tool (or you can use the tools which come in the box with the rivets)
1x ½” a snap for the front pocket
Magnetic snap for the main closure
2 ½” yds. 1 ½” wide cotton webbing in a coordinating colour
7” plastic #3 zipper for the box pocket in the lining
Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims

The Maryland (the cylinder one)

This is THE classic knitting bag! Of course, if you are not a knitter, it is useful for all sorts of other things too but most people will recognise it as a useful yarn project bag. I remember my Mum’s (which I still have somewhere) from the 1970s! It has an eyelet on the top to let the yarn out and a full length zipper to keep everything neat. It will fit knitting needles up to 14” and it is pretty quick to make too and would make an awesome present.

Pattern Features
- bound inner end seams
-full length zipper
-hand eyelet for yarn crafts

Pattern Rating: Pattern Rating: confident beginner to intermediate: not too many nasty surprises here but some skills assumed. There are plenty of tips to help you along your journey.

Finished Sizes: 14” long x 4 ½” diameter

So what is needed to make the Maryland?

Fabric:
½ yd. canvas for the outer
½ yd. lining fabric

Interfacing:
½ yd. style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or By Annie's Soft & Stable

Everything Else:
12” #5 zipper to match your outer canvas
1x ½” eyelet
Something to decorate the zipper pull. I love a strip of leather or vegan leather or a piece of nice ribbon.
1 packet of bias binding to match or coordinate with your lining fabric.
TIP: you can make your own too. If you do this, you will need about 35”. Start with bias cut strips 1 ½” wide and join them if you have to.
Unusual item but one worth adding to your kit- a Sliding Gauge by Clover to help with the end circles.
TIP: I LOVE this tool! It allows you to get a huge amount of different circles and it is so useful. If you cannot get one and you want to get started, I have given a few alternative ideas in the pattern when we get to that bit.
Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!

The Maine-on-the-go Bag (the over arm one)

This little bag is perfect for toting your craft WIP wherever you go. I have used it on the train for my knitting! The handle is designed to fit over your arm leaving your hands free to craft in a queue.

The bag features a zipper box pocket in the front and two handy lined slip pockets inside. There is a drop in lining and bound edges so there is no complicated turning out to be done. Best of all, the pattern includes the step-by-step instructions to make the little macrame feather too! (that sold me actually, I nearly bought it myself!).

Pattern Rating: confident beginner to intermediate: not too many nasty surprises here but some skills assumed.

What do you need to make it:
Fabric:
½ yd. canvas in a pretty print.
½ yd. lining fabric.
48” bias binding to coordinate with your main fabric. I have made mine from the main fabric because it is quite busy and I did not really want to add another pattern. A solid navy would have been another way to go.

Interfacing:
24” Style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or By Annie's Soft & Stable
Fat Eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline), alternatively, Pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
5” #5 metal zipper to coordinate with your main fabric.
Cotton yarn to coordinate with your main fabric

Dimensions: 11" high x 10 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" deep
