When You're Scared of the Future (Tawakkul: Trust in Allah on Future Anxiety)

For the one who can't stop worrying about tomorrow

What if I fail?

What if I choose the wrong path?

What if I never figure it out?

What if things don't get better?

What if I'm alone forever?

What if, what if, what if?

The future is scary.

Not because it's bad, but because it's unknown.

Because you can't control it.

Because you don't know what's coming.

But here's the promise He never breaks:

The future is not yours to carry alone. It never was.

“And whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him." (65:3)

He's already there.

In tomorrow.

In next year.

In every moment you haven't lived yet.

Yusuf (AS) couldn't see where his story was going.

A well. Slavery. Prison. Every chapter looked like a disaster.

But every chapter was leading him to his throne.

Your story is not over yet.
You don't know how it ends.
But you know Who holds the pen.

And here is what Allah has taught me to do when you're scared of the future:

  1. Come back to now. You can only live one moment at a time. And right now, you're okay. You're breathing. You're here.
  2. Make dua for tomorrow. Don't worry. Dua. “Ya Allah, guide me. Protect me. Make the path easy.”
  3. Remember you've survived before. You've made it through 100% of your hard days so far. You'll make it through this too.
  4. Talk to someone. You don't have to carry this alone. Share your fears. Let someone hold them.
  5. Trust the One who knows. He knows what's coming. And He's already there. Waiting for you.

🤲 A Prayer for the Future:

Ya Allah,

I'm scared of what's coming.

I don't know what tomorrow holds.

But You do.

And You'll be there when I arrive.

Help me trust You.

Help me take one step at a time.

Help me remember: You've never left me yet.

Ameen.

🕊️ Blessing for My Caravan of a Billion Hearts 🕊️

May every blog post you read be a lantern in someone's darkness.

May the words find the ones who need them most, and become the words that heal someone in their darkest hour.

May the broken-hearted find hope.

May the lost find direction.

May the lonely find belonging.

May the invisible find that they are seen.

And may every reader who lands on my blog leave feeling a little less alone, a little more seen, and a little closer to Him.

Ameen. 🤲🕊️🧭
