Background or Introduction

This study focuses on central line associated blood stream infection (CLABSI) and ways infection can be prevented through nursing compliance with hospital protocols regarding central line care. Central lines are catheters placed in a great vessel which allow for medication infusions and intravenous nutrition that cannot be infused through a peripheral IV. Although central lines serve many purposes to benefit the patient, they can also be costly not only to the patient and their medical condition but to the hospital as well when a CLABSI has occurred.
